Mumbai: Women are increasingly emerging as an influential force in India’s residential real estate market, playing a much larger role in property purchase decisions. Recent market sentiment indicates that the share of homebuyer sentiment among women has risen sharply to 40%, compared with just 18% a year earlier.
The shift
reflects changing financial priorities and greater participation by women in
household investment and property decisions. For many buyers, owning a home is
not only about securing a place to live but also about building long-term
financial stability and wealth.
The
growing influence of women is also encouraging developers to pay closer
attention to their preferences, including home security, location,
connectivity, amenities, convenience and potential investment value.
This
changing buyer profile signals an important demographic shift in India’s real
estate sector. Women are no longer simply participants in property
decisions—they are increasingly becoming key decision-makers in the homebuying
market.
