Who Will Lose Their Jobs, and Who Has a
Future?
By Viji K Varghese (Real Estate Expert)
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is expanding rapidly across
every industry. In real estate, the arrival of AI is radically transforming
traditional sales practices. Previously, selling a project required a large
team—telecallers, lead generation executives, sales executives, digital
marketers, and site visit coordinators. Today, with the help of AI, many of
these tasks can be accomplished faster and at a much lower cost.
Many
companies already use AI to find suitable properties for clients, send WhatsApp messages, explain project details, categorise leads, set
follow-up reminders, and create advertisements.
This raises
a crucial question in real estate sales, will AI completely eliminate human
jobs, or will it create more opportunities for those who know how to use it?
Reality
points toward the second outcome. Not all sales jobs will vanish. However,
hiring people for repetitive tasks that technology can easily automate will
decrease significantly. At the same time, professionals who can build client
trust, negotiate, and guide customers through complex decisions will become
even more valuable. Real estate professionals—and those planning to enter the
field—need to understand this shift right now.
Many people
assume AI is primarily useful for creating ads. But its influence extends far
beyond advertising. From the moment a customer searches for a property to
booking, documentation, and after-sales service, AI supports multiple stages of
the journey.
1. Lead Generation and Lead Management
Previously, teams would manually sort leads coming from Facebook ads, phone calls, referrals, and property portals. Today, AI-powered tools and CRM platforms help quickly categorize leads based on budget, preferred location, and property type, identify high-intent buyers who are willing to buy against potentials that require more time, and prepare personalized messages for new and cooler leads. Schedule when to call a lead and determine the logical next course of action can all be done through AI.
2.
Chatbots and Automated Messaging
Automated systems handle basic inquiries and
scheduling site visits effortlessly.
Provide clear project details, pamphlets, locations, and maps. Sending timely reminders
before site visits and collecting feedback afterwards, handing over qualified prospects to
the sales team, and reducing
the time spent following reps and cold leads can be delivered easily and
accurately.
3.
Content Creation and Marketing
AI tools
generate multiple ad ideas, social
media posts, and video
scripts within minutes. Draft ad copy for Facebook and Instagram, creating marketing
material in multiple languages with scripts for YouTube videos and reels, and setting up
targeted email and WhatsApp
campaigns with tailored messaging.
However,
human strategy remains essential for identifying the target audience, managing
budgets, and evaluating campaign results.
4.
Virtual Site Visits
AI tools
make it easy to deliver online virtual walkthroughs before an in-person tour,
helping buyers understand the property layout in advance.
Even so,
a virtual tour cannot replace physical due diligence—such as evaluating actual
road access, water and electricity availability, construction quality, and
legal documentation.
5. Data
Analytics and Market Insights
AI and
analytics track price trends across localities, buyer demand, sales velocity,
and competitor activity. This data helps sales managers make better decisions.
However, AI insights are not infallible; incomplete data, inaccurate entries,
or sudden market shifts can skew the results.
Who
Stands to Lose Their Jobs?
AI primarily
automates repetitive and mechanical tasks:
Basic
Telecallers: Reading
scripts, answering routine FAQs, and logging interest can be automated easily.
While overall telecalling headcounts will shrink, professionals skilled at
handling complex queries and qualifying high-value leads will remain necessary.
Manual
Follow-up Executives:
Sending reminder texts, updating lead statuses, and dispatching periodic
updates are tasks handled efficiently by CRM automations.
Basic
Content Writers:
Generic property descriptions, rough drafts, and standard social media posts
can be generated by AI instantly. Value now lies with writers who offer
hyper-local market depth, credible analysis, and sharp positioning strategies.
Data
Entry Operators:
Copying lead contact details, compiling standard reports, and updating
spreadsheets can be handled automatically. Companies will instead seek people
who can analyze data, assess lead quality, and track cost-per-booking metrics.
Companies
may trim excess headcount and retain higher-performing talent, depending on
their business model and tech investments.
Who Has a
Bright Future?
With AI, the
number of years on your resume matters less than the actual value you deliver
to the customer. A sales professional who pairs industry experience with modern
technology will outperform an experienced agent who relies solely on outdated
methods.
Trusted
Sales Consultants:
Buying a home is a major financial and emotional commitment. Consultants who
understand family needs, respect budget realities, clarify doubts, and build
genuine trust will stay in demand.
Data-Driven
Sales Managers:
Leaders who use data to identify high-converting leads, spot fast-moving
inventory, diagnose lagging campaigns, and reallocate resources effectively
will continue to thrive.
Local
Market Advisors:
Professionals who offer grounded local knowledge—community dynamics, zoning,
upcoming infrastructure, and honest investment advice—cannot be matched by
algorithms.
Deal
Closers: Agents
skilled at conducting in-person site visits, addressing family concerns,
handling negotiations, and guiding buyers through booking and registration
cannot be easily replaced by AI.
Tech-Enabled
Sales Professionals:
Reps who combine frontline sales acumen with modern CRM software, digital
campaigns, and pipeline automation will produce significantly higher output.
Essential
Skills to Stay Relevant
Sales
professionals must upgrade their skill sets to remain competitive:
Prompting
AI Tools: Learn to
provide clear instructions to tools like ChatGPT and Gemini to draft
presentations, client messages, and sales strategies.
Mastering
CRMs: Use modern CRM
platforms to track budgets, timelines, follow-up dates, and conversion stages
systematically.
Professional
Digital Communication: Build expertise across WhatsApp Business, email sequences, video calls,
and virtual presentations.
Data
Literacy: Learn to
track key metrics such as lead conversion rates, site visit ratios, booking
rates, and marketing cost-per-acquisition.
Video
& Content Fundamentals: Create short walkthrough clips, location overviews, and shareable
digital brochures.
Negotiation
and Legal Foundations: Deepen your knowledge of local regulations, RERA guidelines, objection
handling, and closing techniques.
AI is not
just a threat; it is an efficiency multiplier. An effective sales executive
uses AI to eliminate busywork and move deals faster. A capable sales manager
leverages AI to lift team productivity.
A strong
sales head combines smart technology with human relationships to drive
predictable business growth.
In real
estate sales, AI will not replace humans entirely. However, agents who refuse
to use AI will be replaced by agents who master it.
Do not fear AI; learn to use it. The future belongs to professionals who understand both the technology and the people behind every purchase decision.
