Greater
Noida: Uttar Pradesh
is stepping up its efforts to attract Japanese manufacturing and technology
companies with a proposed 500-acre Japan City in the Yamuna Expressway
Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) region, alongside the launch of
Japanese-backed projects involving investments of around ₹3,191 crore.
The
developments were highlighted during the UP-Japan Investment Meet 2026, as the
state seeks to strengthen its industrial partnership with Japan and create a
dedicated ecosystem for Japanese companies near the Noida International
Airport.
Three
projects involving Escorts Kubota and Minda Corporation form the immediate
investment focus in the YEIDA region.
Escorts
Kubota is investing approximately ₹2,025 crore in a manufacturing project in
YEIDA's Sector 10. The facility is expected to manufacture tractors,
construction equipment and related products for domestic and export markets and
could generate more than 3,800 jobs.
Minda
Corporation has proposed two projects in Sectors 10 and 24, involving a
combined investment of around ₹1,166 crore. These projects are expected to
create approximately 6,440 employment opportunities.
Together,
the projects represent a proposed investment of ₹3,191 crore and have the
potential to generate more than 10,000 jobs.
The proposed
Japan City is planned as an integrated industrial ecosystem designed
specifically to accommodate Japanese companies, suppliers and ancillary
industries.
The YEIDA
region is being positioned as a strategic location because of its industrial
infrastructure and connectivity, including its proximity to the Noida
International Airport and the Yamuna Expressway.
According to
Invest UP, the proposed Japanese City is intended to offer world-class
infrastructure, plug-and-play facilities and urban amenities tailored to
Japanese investors. The project is expected to support manufacturing, services
and Global Capability Centre (GCC) operations.
The state's
Japan investment strategy extends beyond conventional manufacturing.
Discussions at the investment meet have included semiconductors, electronics,
electric mobility, renewable energy, green hydrogen, advanced materials,
automotive components and digital infrastructure.
Uttar
Pradesh is also seeking to build stronger supply chains around Japanese
manufacturers. Bringing manufacturers, suppliers and ancillary businesses into
a common industrial ecosystem could help facilitate technology partnerships and
supply-chain integration.
More than
200 Japanese industrialists, CEOs, business leaders and policymakers
participated in the UP-Japan Investment Meet 2026. The state government has
been presenting Uttar Pradesh as a manufacturing destination supported by
infrastructure, skilled manpower and sector-specific investment policies.
The proposed
Japan City represents an effort to move beyond individual investment projects
and establish a broader Japanese industrial ecosystem in Uttar Pradesh.
With ₹3,191
crore worth of projects already at the project-launch stage and a 500-acre
dedicated industrial cluster being planned, the YEIDA region is emerging as an
important focus of the state's strategy to attract Japanese manufacturing,
technology and supply-chain investments.
