Delhi: The Municipal
Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has launched a new one-time property tax amnesty
scheme, ‘Sampattikar Niptaan Yojana (SUNIYO) 2.0 – One Plus Seven’, giving
property owners an opportunity to settle outstanding dues with relief from
accumulated interest and penalties.
The scheme
came into effect on September 29, 2026, and will remain open until December 31,
2026. Under the initiative, taxpayers are required to pay the principal
property tax for the current financial year 2026-27 along with the principal
dues for the previous seven financial years, covering 2019-20 to 2025-26.
Once the
eligible principal tax amount is paid under the scheme, taxpayers can receive
relief from interest and penalties on the covered dues, while older arrears
prior to the seven-year period are eligible for waiver under the scheme. The
MCD has described the initiative as a measure to help taxpayers resolve
long-pending property tax liabilities.
The scheme
also provides an instalment facility for taxpayers whose total liability is ₹5
lakh or more, allowing them to pay the eligible amount in equal instalments
during the scheme period.
The latest
amnesty scheme could provide relief to Delhi property owners who have
accumulated tax liabilities over several years. It also gives the civic body an
opportunity to recover outstanding property tax while encouraging taxpayers to
bring their accounts up to date.
The MCD has
advised taxpayers to verify their property details and outstanding tax
liability before making payment. The official MCD portal has also listed the
office order relating to the SUNIYO 2.0 One Plus Seven scheme.
Property
owners seeking to benefit from the amnesty will therefore need to act before
the December 31, 2026 deadline.
