Ras-Al-Khaimah’s Famous ‘Ghost House’ Up for Sale Again

Ras Al Khaimah: The iconic Al Qasimi Palace, popularly known as Ras Al Khaimah’s “Haunted Palace”, has returned to the property market. The landmark mansion is now listed at Dh22.5 million without furniture, while the asking price rises to Dh23.5 million with its original artefacts and collectibles.

The four-storey palace has 35 bedrooms, a built-up area of around 33,827 sq ft and stands on a sprawling 191,742-sq-ft plot. Its architecture features elaborate marble interiors, chandeliers, artworks and distinctive design elements reflecting several cultural influences.

Built for the late Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Humaid Al Qasimi, the palace remained largely unoccupied for decades, leading to stories about strange sounds, unexplained activity and ghosts. These accounts eventually earned the property its famous “Haunted Palace” reputation. There is no established evidence that the building is actually haunted.

The property was later acquired and restored by businessman and art collector Tareq Ahmad Al Sharhan, who reopened it to visitors under the name Al Qasr Al Ghamedh, meaning “The Palace of Ambiguity.”

According to reports, the latest sale has already attracted interest from investors considering different possibilities for the property. The unusual combination of luxury real estate, architecture, heritage and local folklore continues to make the palace one of Ras Al Khaimah’s most distinctive properties.
