Maharashtra Accelerates Affordable Housing Under PMAY-U 2.0

 

Mumbai: Maharashtra is stepping up efforts to accelerate affordable housing under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Urban 2.0 (PMAY-U 2.0). The state has reportedly registered more than 4.2 lakh beneficiaries, while construction of around 1.6 lakh houses has received approval under various housing schemes.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has called on implementing agencies to speed up housing projects across the state, with emphasis on quality construction and timely completion.

PMAY-U 2.0 is aimed at helping eligible urban families construct, purchase or access affordable housing through different components, including Beneficiary Led Construction (BLC) and Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP). The central scheme targets housing support for urban poor and middle-class families who do not own a pucca house.

The initiative is aimed at expanding access to affordable homes for eligible urban families. PMAY-U 2.0 supports housing through multiple components, including beneficiary-led construction and affordable housing partnerships.

The Maharashtra government is also working towards an integrated digital portal to manage available housing stock and streamline its allocation to eligible beneficiaries. The move is expected to improve coordination, transparency and utilisation of available housing resources.

With housing demand continuing to grow across Maharashtra's urban centres, faster project execution and effective allocation of completed homes will remain important to achieving the broader “Housing for All” objective.

With thousands of housing units in the pipeline, the state government's emphasis remains on faster execution, quality construction and timely delivery, helping more families gain access to affordable homes.
